Franco Giuli led a relentless pursuit of geometric abstraction and the investigation of structure and materials, in which reflection on the use of corrugated cardboard as the expressive medium of choice stands out. Invited to participate in 1972 in the XXXVI Venice Biennale, he exhibited in important venues in Italy and abroad, accompanied by authoritative critical voices of the late twentieth century: Giorgio Di Genova, Enrico Crispolti, Filiberto Menna, Bruno Corà and others.
A rich retrospective was presented in 2013 at the Edieuropa Gallery in Rome. Bruno Corà is credited with curating his last two solo shows, "Franco Giuli: le costruzioni pittorico-plastiche e oltre" at Museo Bilotti, Rome, in 2016, and "Strutture e spazi di superficie" at Museo Riso, Palermo, in 2017.
