Support: 95%. Conservation status. Surface: 95%. Peter Pearson's painting is marked by a special connection to architecture and water, the subject also of the painting under consideration, which has its roots in part in Italy. In 1977, in fact, after graduating from Trinity College with a degree in art history, the artist received a scholarship from the Italian government, to Venice, where he had two exhibitions of his work, in 1978 and 1979 (Galleria d'Arte Venexia). Returning to Ireland in 1980, Pearson again measured himself against the Dublin landscape, but with a shot completely different from the exercises prior to his Italian sojourn, reminiscent of the effect of Venetian light on John Ruskin's work: the image is now constructed as a superimposition of light and transparency, sometimes consumed in the tenuousness of the colors, at other times with an effect of movement ("Peter Pearson. Of Sea and Stone. Paintings 1974-2014," Dublin, 2014, pp. 48ff).
