Amulet in the form of a rectangular plate. Ancient Egypt, Lower Epoch, 664-323 BC.
Fayenza.
Provenance: private collection, Paris. Acquired on the art market in the 1980s.
In good state of preservation.
Measurements: 2.5 cm (height); 4.3 cm (height with stand).
Despite its small dimensions, this amulet shows the presence of three figures that could well be Isis, Horus and Nephthys. They have been worked following the discourse of Egyptian art in its totality: hieratism, characters of rigorous profile, etc. The function of amulets in Ancient Egypt was to ward off bad luck and bring about happy events.
