Support: 70% (gaps and additions, especially in the central fossil; visible interventions on two other specimens; consolidation) Pecten is a genus of large scallops, marine bivalve mollusks in the family Pectinidae. The valves are subequal, medium to large in size, the right one more convex, while the left one is flat or concave; the valves are ornamented with broad, flat radial ribs. This genus does not live fixed to the substrate but is a free-swimming form. It appeared during the Eocene period and is widespread in present-day seas. The fossil dates to the Neogene, Miocene stage and was excavated in France.
