The Dobro brand was founded in the 1920s by brothers John and Emil Dopyera, talented luthiers of Czech origin.
They developed acoustic guitars with a metal cone resonator system, offering a powerful, distinctive sound, perfect for slide playing in genres such as blues, country and bluegrass.
In 1993, the Dobro brand was acquired by Gibson Guitar Corporation.
This acquisition enabled Gibson to consolidate its footprint in the acoustic guitar field and continue Dobro's heritage as a manufacturer of quality instruments appreciated by musicians worldwide.
It was in 1993 that this DM1000 model (one of the top-of-the-range models) was produced.
An important witness to the contemporary history of two iconic acoustic instrument brands: Gibson and Dobro.
