Tikar, Grassland, Cameroon, second half of the 20th century.
Lost-wax bronze chieftaincy bell with numerous decorative motifs. The handle consists of an openwork sphere. Unlike the square-section bells of Benin and Nigeria, this Tikar bell is triangular in cross-section, with the corners extended by loops. These aesthetic features give it its originality.
Lost-wax bronze. Beautiful deep patina.
