"The Famine of Madrid" - "Nothing Without King Ferdinand XVII" - War of Independence, oil on canvas dated 1811 - 1812
Interesting oil on canvas of great historical-artistic relevance that portrays the misery and famine of the streets of Madrid in the years of the War of Independence, dated 1811 - 1812, in which we observe hungry women and children in the streets of the Town of Madrid asking for bread from the French occupation troops of Joseph Bonaparte. A legend in the upper right corner reads: "Spanish Record of Hunger of 1811 - 1812. Nothing Without Fernando." Provenance: important private collection, Salamanca. Measurements: 110 x 145 cm, measurements with frame: 175 x 140 cm.
