"Maternité", René Thomsen (Paris 1897-1976), post-French Impressionist school of the 19th century - early 20th century Oil on canvas. Measurements: 100 x 80 cm, measurements with frame: 115 x 97 cm. A student of Louis Anquetin, he was encouraged from its beginnings, in 1920, by Vauxcelles, Elie Faure and Joaquim Gasquet. In 1921 he was named a member of the Salon d'Automne and subsequently performed at several Parisian Salons. where he achieved some success. Exhibitions in Paris since 1926. In 1932 he stayed at the Casa Velásquez in Madrid. Painter of portraits, nudes, figures, we also know of him flowers and landscapes, in particular: Villeneuve-lès-Avignons, preserved in the Museum of Modern Art in Paris. The Versailles Museum commissioned one commemorating the funeral of President Painlevé. The museums of Albi and Le Havre, the city of Paris and the French State have his paintings. Provenance: important Spanish private collection.
