Erich Heckel Street with flags. Portrait of Nora Nauen on the reverse 1914 Watercolor over pencil, or pencil drawing on thin laid paper. 45.5 x 40.5 cm. Framed under glass. Signed and dated 'Heckel 14' in pencil lower right and titled '- Strasse mit Fahnen -' lower left, and signed, dated and titled 'Nora N' lower right. - With narrow browning margin, the left and right margins with a few very short tears. With faint handling creases. The colors partially minimally faded. We would like to thank Renate Ebner and Hans Geissler, Erich Heckel estate, Hemmenhofen, for kind information. The watercolor is listed in the archive. Provenance Estate of Erich Heckel; Roman Norbert Ketterer (1966); private property; Grisebach Berlin, auction 26.11.1994, lot 144; private collection Baden-Württemberg Exhibitions Campione d'Italia 1966 (Roman Norbert Ketterer), Erich Heckel, cat. p. 51 with illus. The watercolor was painted in Brüggen on the Lower Rhine. The Heckels were on their way to visit Heinrich Nauen, who lived with his family at Dilborn Castle.
