Chout is a ballet of 6 tableaux by Prokofiev, composed in 1915 and revised in 1920, inspired by a collection of Russian fairy tales by Alexander Afanasiev and commissioned by Serguei Diaghilev. Presented in 1921 at the Théâtre de la Gaieté in Paris and in January 1928 at the Kiev Theater.
