EPL 670 "Primus Roller Skater," 1910-1915
Primus is one of the rarest and most sought-after Lehmann toys. It was a very expensive toy and only very few examples were produced, which makes it very rare. Its original name was EPL 670 and it was produced between 1913 and 1941.
In the early twentieth century, roller skating became one of America's great exports to urban centers around the world. Berlin was certainly no exception and Lehmann was keen to design a figure that reflected the intense interest in this new sport.
So they decided to produce this toy depicting a roller skater. His forward movement was reproduced by means of a spring-loaded operation by repeatedly spreading and closing his legs, simulating the real movement of skating.
It is certainly one of Lehmann's most fascinating toys.
