A RARE AND EARLY FIVE-PRONGED IRON DIAMOND SCEPTRE (VAJRA)
Tibet, ca. 11th-12th c.

The pearl in the centre is surrounded by eight leaf motifs arranged in opposite directions. Symmetrical rows of animal paws (kirtimukha) follow, then rows of lotus leaves. Macara heads emerge from the crown leaves on both sides, from each of which four clasps emerge that connect to the central axis at the ends. At the constrictions the clasps touch the central axis in its middle. Iron, with minimal remains of gold.
