A BRONZE FIGURE OF AMITABHA
Tibet, 15th c.
H. 13,4 cm
Seated in vajrasana on a lotus base with both hands resting in dhyanamudra on his lap supporting the alms-bowl, wearing diaphanous monastic garment, its raised borders incised with a geometric design, his face displaying a serene expression with downcast eyes below arched eyebrows running into the nose-bridge, urna cavity on his forehead, painted facial details, pierced elongated earlobes, blue coloured curled hairdo continuing into the ushnisha and topped with a lotus bud, sealed.
From an old and important German private collection, collected between 1950 and 1987, collection number C 22.
