A FINE GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF MAITREYA Tibet, late 16th c. H. 27,5 cm (o.S.) Seated in pralambapadasana with both feet placed on a lotus base, his right hand showing the vitarkamudra while the left resting on his lap, each holding the stem of the utpala lotus flowering along his upper arm, one supporting the kamandalu, wearing dhoti engraved with flowerheads , scarf draped around his shoulders with its streamers encircling the arms, jewellery set with semi-precious stones, his face displaying a serene expression with downcast eyes below arched eyebrows, raised urna at his forehead, elongated earlobes with ear ornaments, the blue coloured hair combed in a chignon topped with the stupa emblem and secured with a five-leaf tiara decorated with a pair of pattras and floating ribbons, on wood base.
