New edition conforming to the original Manuscript; with Notes to clarify the Fable &c. Enriched with plates and vignettes related to the subject. Leide, J. de Wetstein, Amsterdam, Z. Chatelain & fils, 1761. Large in-4 (38 x 27 cm) red morocco, richly decorated ribbed spine, gilt title, framed with gilt fillets, garlands and fleurons, framed with garlands and fillets inside, red moire lining and endpapers, in edged slipcase (Yseux, succr de Simier).
Decorated with a portrait of Fénelon, a frontispiece by PICART engraved by Folkema, the title finial, 24 fine figures engraved out-of-text by Bernard after DUBOURG, 24 vignettes and 13 culs-de-lampe by Debrie and Dubourg (qqs. some repeated). Some light foxing.
A fine copy on large paper, in a signed binding (Cohen 381.)
