Earthenware rim plate with polychrome "le serment civique" (the civic oath) decoration at center of an altar decorated with a flaming heart under a Phrygian bonnet set on a terrace surmounted by a lover holding a standard inscribed "w la nation la loi et le roy" (the nation, the law and the king). On the wing, stylized flowers and double falls.
This simplified decoration recalls the oath taken by the king, the clergy and the federations on the altar of Liberty on July 14, 1790, during the Fête de la Fédération in Paris.
Late 18th century, revolutionary period.
