Earthenware plate with contoured rim featuring a patriotic polychrome design of a lictor bundle between a plant crown and surmounted by a red Phrygian cap with tricolor ribbon. Above, the inscription "la liberté ou la mort" ("liberty or death").
The Saint-Clement manufactory used the lictor-beam motif on numerous shapes.
