Katar with dragons Partially gold-damascened steel India, probably Bikaner region, 18th century Height: 45.7 cm The blade of this katar features two deep gutters on either side of a central ridge in the shape of a long cypress tree. The gold damascened handle features two baluster-shaped crosspieces, framing two stylized dragons between them. The vertical uprights are damascened with floral and plant motifs on each side, and chevrons on the edges. Similar katars bear the marks of the Bikaner arsenal.
