Kshetrapala. Tibet. 19th c. Blue silk appliqué and embroidery. 130 x 245 cm The protector rides a bear with a gaping mouth amid a halo of flames. in the foreground, three cranial bowls filled with offerings. Head turned to the right, Kshetrapala brandishes a kartrika (cleaver) in his right hand and a kapala (skull cap) in his left. with his left. Her hair bristling, her eyes wide open and her mouth revealing sharp fangs. He is dressed in tiger skin and adorned with tiara surmounted by a skull, necklaces and bracelets with pendants. This rare and important textile is composed of several elements of blue silk of blue silk. The contours of the bodies are made from applied silk elements embroidered details (eyes, mouth, hair, jewelry). Restorations, missing lower part and right part.
