Round box in black tortoiseshell, the lid inlaid with an oval miniature portrait painted on enamel of the English actress Nell GWYNN (1650-1687), one of the most famous of King Charles II of ENGLAND's many mistresses. The interior is lined with gold, engraved on the reverse of the lid NELL / GWYNN. Late 17th century, early 18th century (enamel cracks in the miniature). Diameter: 8 cm
