Timothée de CHILLAC.
Les Amours d'Angeline et Lauriphile.
- La Liliade françoise. Ibid, id,
1599. 2 parts in one in-12 volume, green half-basin, smooth spine (
19th-century binding.)
Brunet, I-1844.
96 f.-60 f. / A-G12, H10, a-e12 / 74 x 135 mm.
A 16th-century French poet, Timothée de Chillac was born in Languedoc. At the age of twenty, he was crowned for his verse, but as fame is often fleeting, he left little trace on French literature.
These are probably two parts of
Œuvres published by the same publisher on the same date, with the same general title. Each part has a separate title page. The
Liliade françoise is followed by
Tumbeau de M. la duch. de Beaufort, marquise de Monceaux. And
other epitaphs with a special title dated
1599.
Old annotations to title page and last leaf, hole in title margin, tears to leaves B2 and H7, large angular loss to last leaf.
Provenance: Georges Boudor (bookplate) and Dr. D. Bernard (bookplate).
