Beautifully carved walnut Christ.
Head tilted forward, crowned with a braided crown of thorns, resting on wavy hair that falls to the nape of the neck. Face with tense features, furrowed brow arches, bifid beard, closed eyes, half-open mouth. The body is modeled with a long perizonium around the hips, falling to the right side, legs bent, the right passing over the left.
Cologne, second third of 14th century.
Feet restored, perizonium broken-glued (original piece) and visibly missing, base.
