Augustin de Saint-Aubin (1736-1807)
Invitation card. 1752. Etching. 157x110. Bocher 418. Slightly faint proof on thin laid paper. Numerous scattered light foxing. Fine traces of folds. Traces of glue at head on verso. Small margins.
This subject depicts musical geniuses between two columns stretched with a blank drapery, which was to be used for handwritten concert information. The proof held by the Bibliothèque Nationale bears, in the artist's own hand, the pencil inscription "Concert bourgeois/Rue St Antoine". On the reverse, our print bears an old pencil inscription: "Billet de concert".
