Historic butterfly brooch with diamonds as well as sapphire, ruby and emerald cabochons Platinum 950, yellow gold 750 (tested), black enamel, c. 164 diamonds in mixed cuts (rose, single and Old European cut, total c. 4.25 ct., calculated weight), slightly tinted white (I-J), VS to SI1-2; 5 blue sapphire cabochons (total c. 2.60 ct., calculated weight); 2 oval ruby cabochons (total c. 1.55 ct., calculated weight); 1 oval emerald cabochon (total c. 0.65 ct., calculated weight), as well as 2 tiny emeralds in fancy shape, 1 tiny drop-shaped onyx cabochon, 1 round ruby cabochon. 21.58 grams. C. 63 x 48 mm. Lower part of the wing movable through a hinge, conveying the delicate fluttering of a butterfly to this fantastic work.
