Paul BROCA (1824-1880). L.A.S., to Vignès; 3 pages in-12.
He sends him the Bethford report, asking him to have it recopied if necessary. He encloses "the two bones I had taken; they are definitely metacarpals, the 2nd or 5th of the right hand. Don't misplace the bones, it would be a national misfortune. These bones have been blessed, you see; and man must not desecrate them; otherwise I would have kept them to cure écrouelles by the mere power of their contact, according to the traditions of the royal family"...
Attached is a P.S. from Samuel Pozzi, surgeon at Broca Hospital, May 3, 1913 (in-8 scrapbook page): "Don't do to others the operations you wouldn't want done to you!".
