Antonin ARTAUD (1896-1948). L.A.S., Friday, to a "dear great friend"; 2pages in-4 (torn and reattached to gummed paper). Curious, delirious letter. "Dear great friend, Great friend I would even say great man. [...] The powdering of opinions irritates me. All I see now are crude hearts and minds in need of balance [...] No longer is there a man who doesn't judge according to the cancer that's eating away at him. The only fixed thing left is misguidance. Where there is a need to judge the heart, the answer is technique, and where there is technique, there is only heart disease"... Further on, there are strange visions: "strange six-legged human gnomes. [...] There is balance between colors, shapes, light and thought. There are still topaz rocks, all grayness, with white light tongues, sort of luminous welts like precious liquid filaments. The lights and colors are the most vivid spirituality. [...] It is the light that distributes the sparkles, sets them in place, warms them from below, miraculously distributing the planes"... Etc.
