13 [September 1934]. Asks for news of Marks's Journey and sentimental affairs. "Mort à crédit first volume 700 pages will be ready in about 18 months. Back to work young man!"... Signed "LF Destouches".
October 10 [1935]. "My old man, I hope you have received the first 104 pages? The rest will follow little by little. I shall be in London on Nov. 10. Would you be so kind as to give me one or two addresses towards Hampstead or elsewhere but with air and silence!"...
[September 2, 1936]. Céline first mentions Marks's setbacks with his publishers. "Try to push this ballet yourself - but you must associate yourself with a well-courted musician. It's vital! Of course I'd be only too happy to give you 15% of my share. But what chance? Russia is a monstrous scum"... Signed "LFD".
