Louis-Ferdinand CÉLINE. L.A.S. "Ferdinand", Copenhagen July 8 [1947], to Marie Bell; 1page in-4.
Hopes for a visit from Marie Bell to Copenhagen.
"Dear Marie Don't give up too! I rely more on your heart than on the words of men... A plane ride! A wing ride! And I'll kiss you! Zoulou [Zuloaga] seems to be faltering at last... For 3 years we've been dying to be dry of natal breezes! You'd think! You won't see sad people, don't be afraid! Lots of funny stories, on the contrary, and I assure you they'll be brand new! And no risks, I assure you. The streets of Copenhagen are full of French tourists. I'll give you my bed if I have to, I'll sleep in prison to make things easier for you... if worse comes to worst! But the Hotel d'Angleterre and its worldwide reputation are here to stay, I imagine! Don't wait for the cold... Of course I won't say a word about your coming, and you know I can keep my mouth shut - as much as I love you That's saying a lot"...
Attached is a telegram from Hella Johansen to Marie Bell, [January 13, 1946]: "louis tres malade espere en vous"...
