[February 11, 1942]. Warns him that Christian Zervos's brother-in-law will pick up Hoffmann's 20 vols. and send them to him. "Thank you for keeping Bataille's book for me. If you find copies of the 1st vol. of Le Livre ouvert, keep them for me. For the strip, have the words SECOND VOLUME printed in pink (the pink of the cover paper) on white paper. It's not brilliant, but it's clear (!!!)"...
March 9 [1943]. They return to Paris on Friday evening: "Don't tell anyone, so I'll have time to see you on Saturday afternoon. In the evening, I'll see Mr. Picasso. Sunday evening, arrange a dinner (not too expensive, as I'm going home destitute) with whomever you like. In a word, you're the grand master of our outings. And I like you, and we like you, you know. And I don't make the trip from Paris to see strangers. Nothing but friends!"...
