CATHERINE DE MEDICIS (1519-1589). L.S. "Caterine", Paris May 18, 1576, [to Charles de Harlay, baron de Dolot]; ¾ page in-fol.
Letter concerning the negotiations that followed the edict of pacification signed at Beaulieu on May 6, by which Duke Casimir, who had come to support the Protestant party, withdrew his reîtres from France. Charles de Harlay led these negotiations.
Catherine de Medicis was aware of "everything that is going on with my cousin the Duke of Cazimir, with which I am very satisfied, and even in particular with what you are doing and how you are working on it, Que je ne scelleray au Roy Monsieur mon filz [Henri III] quant je le verray Je desirez qu'continuez tousiours ce qu'avez commancé pour la promesse que jay faicte pour le service de mondit filsz".
