Letter to Charles V at the end of his captivity, after the signing of the Treaty of Madrid.
[To end his captivity, Francis I signed the Treaty of Madrid on January 14, 1526, ceding the Duchy of Burgundy and the Charolais to the Emperor, renouncing all claims to Italy, Flanders and Artois, and agreeing to marry Eleanor of Habsburg, Charles V's sister; his sons were sent as hostages. François was freed on March 17, 1526].
