François-Marie Périchou de KERVERSAU (1757-1825), general, served in Saint-Domingue. P.S. as General of the Armée de Saint-Domingue, Forfan H.Q. 19 germinal X (April 9, 1802); 2 1/2 pages in-fol. headed Armée de Saint-Domingue. Le Général Commandant la Partie Espagnole de Saint-Domingue, curious vignette showing a mulatto Republic seated on the barrel of a cannon. Repression in Saint-Domingue. "Informed that on the leiziere of the Spanish part of St Domingue, there were men who were enemies enough of public safety and of their own safety to buy the spoils of their fellow citizens, of their brothers, in the hands of brigands still stained with their blood, and thus to give them the means to perpetuate their crimes and public calamities, by supplying them with ammunition and food", he decreed that any man who had maintained relations with brigands would be condemned to death.
