[Militaria] Military service embroidered silk souvenirs (1) Souvenir de ma campagne de Chine et du Japon. Embroidered silk panel for Joseph Louy, sailor on the Lamotte Picquet, for his naval service, 1935-1937. Mounted on cardboard, 50 x 40 cm. Signs of wear and age, especially around edges. (2) Souvenir de ma campagne au tour du monde. Embroidered silk panel for Jules Michelet for his service, 1922-1923. 50 x 40 cm, framed under glass. Signs of age and wear, not inspected outside frame. Both panels feature a central photograph of the sailor, surrounded by flags, w. a rooster on top and an image of their ship below. Popular in the early 20th century, these embroidered silk panels were a way for members of the navy to commemorate their military service. (total 2)
