SIVAS/SEBASTE carpet (Asia Minor), late 19th, early 20th century Dimensions: 325 x 202cm. Technical features: wool velvet on cotton backing. A brick and mouse-gray mandorla plant medallion and its pendants are set on a wide oblong ivory arabesque counter-field, itself set on an anthracite field. The whole is covered with floral scrolls and multicolored plant stems. The frame is composed of an abraché brick main border, flanked by six polychrome counterborders, seven of which feature garlands of flowers. Beautiful pastel ensemble (minor wear).
