MARINA CAPDEVILA (Falset, 1985). "Marujas". Acrylic on canvas. Signed in the lower left corner. Signed and titled on the back. Measurements: 120 x 120 cm. Marina Capdevila i Papió is a Catalan illustrator and muralist. With a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona, the Tarragona-born artist Marina Capdevila completed her studies at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam with a postgraduate degree in Creative Illustration at the Escola Eina in Barcelona. Her peculiar style, which ranges from small illustrations to mural paintings, consists of exaggerating those situations that occur in the routine of any person in the city as well as in any rural enclave, bringing a touch of humor to the triviality of everyday life. The artist has confessed that one of her muses is her own grandmother, which is why older women are recurrent in her imaginary. With them she tries to communicate the desire to reach old age with full vitality. Capdevila has worked on advertising projects for brands such as Reebok, Zara, Bershka, Movistar, Estrella Damm, TV3, Freixenet and has painted murals in different places in the United States such as Florida, New York or California as well as in Mexico, Switzerland, Italy, Canada, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Austria or Spain. In 2021, he painted a mural four stories high, consisting of a giant embrace of a group of elderly people, in the Puig d'en Roca residence in the neighborhood of Fontajau, in the city of Girona, where his mother had recently died.
