A gilt bronze and brown patina clock, known as a milkmaid clock, with an enameled dial set in a case featuring a nacelle carrying a young woman and her milk can riding an Amazon horse, the horse's eyes in sulfur. The whole rests on a gilded bronze base adorned with a bas-relief frieze of an antique-dressed figure drinking milk and another beating butter, framing a cow and standing on four round feet. Late 18th / early 19th century. Hand-wound mechanical movement. - 40 x 28 cm - (accidents to the enamel)
