Guild chain Saint Sebastian guild. 1665-1821.
A guild break or king's chain is worn for one year by a member of a marksmen's guild after winning the annual marksmen's contest or king's shooting (bird shooting/ parrot shooting). St. Sebastian's Guild (handbow) was one of the four main guilds alongside St. George's Guild (crossbow), St. Anthony's Guild (kolveniers) and St. Michael's Guild (fencers).
The entire chain consists of 14 plates on a collar of brown velvet.
From top to bottom and left to right:
1. Heart-shaped, border with studs, engraved inscriptions: Engelbertus Vancalster/ crowned monogram IMR. Silver marks: guarantee mark Belgium (1832-1869) with letter I for inspection chamber Leuven, hallmark silver 2nd amount, master mark VN with two dots (VLB232) for Joannes Baptista Josephus Van Nuvel (1765-1861). 12.5 x 8.5 cm
2. Heart-shaped, pearl-framed border, engraved inscriptions: Criakel Saelmakers Coninck van/ St. Sebastiaen Gulde tot onse/ Livevrouwe Tildt 1775. Unreadable mark. 12 x 10.7 cm

10. Heart shaped, border with double pearl frame. Engraved inscription: H. Coekaerts King/ and Head Man of/ The Gulde Van St/ Sebastieaen Van/ Our L'Vrouw/ Thielt/ 1818. 9.5 x 7.8 cm
11. Heart shaped, border with pearl frame. Engraved inscription: It is now 28 Jaer,/ That J B Van De Gaer,/ Tot Thielt,/ is King of d'Guld/ of St Sebastiaen/ from 1790, to 1818. 10.5 x 8.5 cm
12. Decor of rocailles and scales. Engraved inscription: P.I. Bastiaens/ King of our/ Dear Lady/ Gulde/ 1821. 10 x 9 cm
13. Engraved decoration of two arches in cross shape with arrow. Engraved inscription: D/ Koninck/ I P/ 1717/ I. Silver mark: master's mark (at in oval). 9.5 x 7.7 cm
14. Half-moon shaped, with bow and arrow attached to ring. Double-sided: recto engraved inscription: Jesper Van Bielsschem Alfbreus Tot Tieldt/ anno 1723 and verso: And Syn Huys Vrouwe Margrita Van Mys/ For One Gives. 7 x 3.4 cm.
