CRUCIFIXION GROUP Switzerland, wood carved, polychrome painted, background painting with scene from Jerusalem, in a glazed box, c. 1780 Box: 81 x 50 x 11 cm The crucifixion group, which comes from a private household in Einsiedeln, shows the cross rising above Christ's tomb. At the foot of the cross are Mary and the Apostle John. Directly on the cross, Mary Magdalene mourns. The work is very finely executed and is certainly the work of a very good carver. Shipping is not possible due to the glass.
