Léa LAFUGIE (1890-1972)
Tibetan prayer
Pencil, gouache and watercolor on paper depicting two seated Tibetan monks chanting sutras, one beating a lag rnga drum, the other operating a dril-bu with his right hand and holding a vajra with his left. To the left, a butter lamp burns in front of rows of offering bowls. In the background, a fierce deity and her consort appear, with human skulls on their right, seemingly animated in the ether, and tiger paws and skins.
Signed lower right "Tibet-Lafugie" with two red seals.
