Large terracotta horse, China, Han period (206 BC - 220 AD)
Depicted standing on four legs, head modeled with flat cheeks, wide-open eyes topped by large superciliary arches. The mouth is slightly ajar, revealing the teeth, the nostrils are hollowed and the ears erect. The terracotta is enhanced with white pigment for the fillet and noseband, and red for the mouth, nostrils and inner ears. The tail is removable.
Height: 60 cm; length: 50 cm
Right rear leg broken and restored, right front leg broken and glued back together, one ear incomplete. Restoration work.
