Pair of small glazed stoneware ding cups, China, Northern Song, 10th - 12th century
Each scalloped-edged, gadrooned bowl is divided into six lobes outlined by a line of slip, imitating the corolla of a flower. The outer walls are slightly curved, while the interior has a broad, flat base. The stoneware is entirely covered with a beautiful transparent ivory glaze, except for part of the edge of each petal. The underside is flat.
Diameter: 13 cm
The dishes are preserved in a wooden box and bear old labels. Small chip to one.
