Large Swatow ceramic dish, China export, Zhangzhou kiln, Wanli period (1573-1620)
Glazed in turquoise, black and iron red, with central decoration of a tiered pagoda, mountains in the distance, a figure crossing a bridge and a boat. Below, three pagodas on rocks. The border is decorated with four medallions featuring landscapes between four highly stylized shou characters in iron red within a double square. The underside and foot with sandy concretions.
