Guanyin in Chinese white porcelain, China, Dehua, 18th century
Depicted seated, dressed in superimposed robes falling in folds around the body, the torso adorned with a pearl necklace and a lotus flower pendant. The face is serene, the eyes downcast and the hair gathered into a bun topped with pins. The forehead is adorned with the urna and the earlobes are elongated. The left arm rests on an armrest with a curved top resting on a dragon-headed foot terminating in a four-clawed dragon's paw attached to the garment. The left hand holds a scroll. The bare right foot protrudes from the bottom of the robe. On the back is a square molded mark, difficult to identify. Slightly cracked cover.
