Shôwa period (1926-1989).
Lacquer tea caddy (natsume), lid decorated with cherry blossoms (sakura) and autumn leaves (momiji) trapped in a wire mesh. The mesh is intentionally interrupted in two places, creating the illusion of damage.
Executed in gold hiramaki-e (low-relief lacquer) with a slight red tint, on a glossy black base. The interior and underside are finished in the same uniform black lacquer.
Accompanied by an original wooden tomobako (storage box), signed and sealed, attributed to Wada Kinsai II.
