Paul Paulin (1852-1937) Bather at the fountain Bronze with brown patina Signed and dated "PAUL PAULIN / 1904". Bears the founder's stamp "C. VALSUANI CIRE PERDUE Dedicated "to Mm J. Wedell Herold". Famous for his portrait series, Paul Paulin was a self-taught sculptor who gained recognition in the Parisian art world at the end of the 19th century. Encouraged and supported by Edgar Degas, he exhibited female nudes and busts of artists such as Monet, Pissaro and Rodin at the Salon des artistes français and later at the Salon de la Société nationale des beaux-arts.
