Faïencerie de Saint-Jean L'Aigle by Jacques G. PEIFFER, Provenance of the restaurant "Chez Géraud" Paris 16th , Two-leaf folding screen, wooden structure adorned on both panels with cracked earthenware tiles decorated with two naturalistic roosters and Art-nouveau elements in polychrome circled relief enamels, maker's stamp and signature "JP à la croix de lorraine" in the decor and dated 1996, Size (open): 152 x 100 cm. FAÏENCES FROM THE RESTAURANT "CHEZ GÉRAUD", rue Vital, PARIS 16th. This establishment (now known as "La Causerie") was founded in 1989 by restaurateur Géraud Rongier, a friend of Jean-Pierre Coffe. The owner's solid reputation has been established around a fine gastronomic table and a décor entirely entrusted to Belle Epoque ceramics, notably represented by the famous signature of Steinlen, a contemporary of Toulouse-Lautrec. The façade of this conservatory of Parisian folk art, the interior frescoes and the tableware were created by Meilleur Ouvrier de France Jacques Peiffer and the Saint-Jean l'Aigle faïencerie in Longwy, based on STEINLEN's original work "La Rue, 1896" in the Musée de Sarreguemines.
