DIJON (Côte d'Or) this November 22, 1746. Letter A.S. BAROU Lieutenant, addressed to M. De VILLEMANDY Intendant de la Maison de LUYNES at Hôtel de Luynes in Paris (Address Dijon manus. Wax seal): "I have only just arrived, sir. I have been nearly 20 days at the conduct of a Dutch Battalion of prisoners... I am going to see my lawyers about the memoirs you sent me for Messieurs le Duc de LUYNES and de CHEVREUSE... It was the Comte de TAVANES who gave it to the Duchess... I would have had the honor of pointing out to him that Mr TURENNE is of great merit for pleasures, that he is rich, learned, but that he does not hinder himself for work. He is still one of the most distinguished people in DIJON, and doesn't frequent the Palais much, which worries me. It's rare to find him at home...". - 2pp in-8°.
