Mahakala. Fire-gilt bronze, partly cold-painted. Sino-Tibetan. 19th/20th century. On a lotus pedestal with a flame mandorla, he stands in a lunge on two naked human figures. In his left hand a kapala, his right hand raised, originally with an attribute. He wears a long apron with an arrow or sceptre held by a snake on his belt, a long open robe, earrings and a crown of skulls, and a vajra wrapped in a snake in his hair. Base plate with engraved depiction. This unusual depiction of Mahakala is probably modeled on the iconography of the Legden (Bhagavat) Mahakala. H with mandorla 18.6 cm
