Plaque with a llama. Bronze in repoussé, fire-gilt. Tibet. Early 19th century.
Enthroned on a large cushion seat, ray mandorla in his back. His left hand on his lap, holding a book, his right hand raised in abhayamudra. He wears the pandita hat and a robe over his left shoulder. His face has a stern expression and an attentive gaze.
The figure probably represents the important Indian scholar Asanga and belongs to the group of revered teachers known in Tibet as "The Six Adornments and Two Excellencies of the Southern Continent".
