Thangka of a Heruka in yab-yum. Tibet. 18th/19th century.
The wrathful, three-headed yidam appears in a flame mandorla, standing on human beings with his six legs. In his primary hands chakra and plow, in the four secondary hands crescent moon and fire as well as sun and smoke. The wheel of life appears on his head. His partner wears an apron decorated with bone chains and holds a skull bowl. They are surrounded by Amitayus, eight other deities in yab-yum, each with an inscription below, and seven wrathful female guardians. Significant traces of age, framed under glass.
